Once again the Youth will be participating in the 30 Hour Famine to raise funds and awareness of the plight of those who daily go without basic nutrition. The Famine will be held March 9-10. It takes $180 to feed a hungry child for one month; our goal is to feed a child for a year . . . or more. Please help our youth do so by making a donation to our Famine effort.

Super Bowl Party & Chili Cook Off

On February 5th, the Fellowship Committee will be hosting a Super Bowl party and Chili Cook-off.  Come watch the big game in a fun and festive atmosphere.  The Chili Cook-off will be conducted as a fundraiser for the Youth’s 30 Hour Famine.  Please sign up below if you would like to enter a pot of chili.  Those not bringing chili are invited to bring their favorite big game snack food, a side dish or a dessert to share.  Please plan on joining us and consider inviting a friend to come along.

Stop Hunger Now

Back by popular demand is the Stop Hunger Now food packaging event.  This year it will be held on March 10th at Grace Episcopal Church.  We will be assembling food packets containing rice, vegetables and other nutrients.  The youth will take part in conjunction with the 30 Hour Famine.  The rest of the congregation is encouraged to join us for some portion of the day.  Financial donations will be received, with every dollar allowing us to package more food and thus impact more lives.  Checks can be made out to the church with ‘Stop Hunger Now’ printed in the memo section.

Gulf Mission Trip

Save the Date!  Our next work trip to the Gulf Coast is slated for Feb 25 – Mar 3, 2012.  We will work for Project Homecoming, a ministry of the Presbytery of South Louisiana in partnership with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA).  We will stay at the presbytery’s Olive Tree Volunteer Village that is an indoor facility. Last year we learned that there are still over 40,000 homes needing rebuilding.  There will be a planning meeting on Wednesday, February 1st at 7pm at First Presbyterian Church in Winchester.
